Timberline Lodge to mile 583 (28 miles)
‘Breakfast at Timberline Lodge’
At 7:30am a bunch of scruffy hikers emerged in the plush dining room of the Timberline Lodge. It was time for the legendary ‘all you can eat’ buffet.
My normal trail breakfast is porridge oats. This morning I had the joy of freshly made waffles with maple syrup, french toast, berries, Greek yogurt, bottomless coffee. And 3 servings of this.
It was fun to see Trees, Silly Moose, Pilot, Famous, Teflon and a few others who’s trail names I’ve forgotten, relish their breakfasts too.
Hiking after about 2000 calories was hard. My tummy isn’t used to such rich food anymore.
At lunch time Trees and I stopped to dip our feet into the stunning Little Crater Lake. I don’t think I’ve ever seen water so clear and bright. It was so cold I could feel it bite on my feet long after they were out.
I camped in a forest, exhausted after a long 28 miles.
